OUR BELIEFS

Rooted in Scripture. Guided by Grace.

Living Like Jesus.

Everything we believe begins with the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As a Global Methodist congregation, we are committed to following God's Word, growing in faith, and sharing His love with our community.

What We Believe

At Saybrook Methodist Church, our faith is centered on Jesus Christ and grounded in the truth of Scripture. We believe that every person is deeply loved by God and invited into a life-changing relationship with Him.

For more than 200 years, our congregation has sought to live out one simple mission:

People Trying to Live Like Jesus.

This isn't just our motto—it's the foundation for everything we do.

The Truths That Guide Us

God

We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who created us, loves us, and desires a personal relationship with every person.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior and Lord. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we receive forgiveness, hope, and eternal life.

Our Core Beliefs…

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit empowers believers to grow in faith, serve others, and boldly share the love of Christ every day.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word and our trustworthy guide for faith, worship, and daily living.

Why We Exist

To make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

That mission shapes every worship service, every ministry, every outreach project, and every relationship we build within our church and community.

The Methodist Difference

Our church is part of the Global Methodist Church, carrying forward a rich Wesleyan tradition that began more than 300 years ago through the ministry of John and Charles Wesley.

Methodists believe faith should be lived—not simply spoken. We strive to follow Christ through daily prayer, worship, acts of compassion, generosity, and service to others.

Growing in faith is a lifelong journey, and we believe God continues to transform us through His grace every step of the way.

— Serving Beyond Sundays

Faith in Action.

We believe that following Jesus extends far beyond Sunday morning.

Our faith comes alive as we:

Worship God together

Serve our neighbors with compassion

Study Scripture

Pray for one another

Support local and global missions

Share the hope of Christ with our community

— What Grace Means to Us

One of the defining beliefs of the Methodist tradition is God's grace.

We believe God's grace reaches us before we ever seek Him, welcomes us when we place our faith in Christ, and continues transforming us throughout our lives.

No one is beyond God's love.

No one is beyond His forgiveness.

Everyone is invited to experience His grace.
